Placentas are my thing!  I am totally fascinated with them. I'd love to hear from anyone and everyone on how to build a healthy placenta, what happened when you birthed your placenta, what did you do with your placenta after you birthed it, have you heard of any placenta recipes? Know anything crazy about the placenta? Am I the only crazy one who takes pictures of mine? Ever had a Lotus birth?  What was it like?  Please post pictures of your placentas!!! I love them!!!

The Placenta below is my last one at 42 weeks old

OOO I bet a twin placenta would look really neat! i wonder if she is planning to take pictures
Each twin has its own placenta, which is neat! I'll suggest they take a camera :)
Actually some identical twins share a placenta:
here is a drawing and explanation:

Here is an actual picture of one shared by 2!

It's a neat variation but it is actually lower risk for them to have their own placentas! You are a good Grammy, how awesome to have you on my page!
i would LOVE advice on how to build a healthy placenta! with my 3rd child when i birthed my placenta my MW got a shock and asked if i smoked..i didn't but my placenta was damaged and looked terrible. with my 4th i had partial placenta abruption which was discovered at 8wks at a dating scan. my son was born 7wks premature and was malnourished (4lbs6oz) but once out he did great and packed on the weight and once, the placenta was damaged and infected. i am currently TTC'ing baby #5 but would LOVE some advice on how to grow a healthy strong placenta. i don't want to go through what i did last time so any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks for asking! Please friend me! It is awesome that you are looking now before you are pregnant, very proactive! Are you taking a prenatal vitamin? It would be wonderful to find the one that works for you and with you now by trying several different ones. Also you are totally in the right place you can browse earlier posts and pictures to see what a healthy placenta looks like and the ones that are strange, there is also a description of what the ideal placenta would look like and how it functions and several placenta building recipes. I believe there is also a nutrient list Vitamin C, Iron and Chlorophyll are the big ones protein makes the amniotic sac strong. There are also several really neat options discussed about what to do with your placenta after you have birthed it please ask questions and comment we <3 it! Then when you have your next baby don't forget to take a picture and post it so we award you the blue ribbon!
Two suggestions I would give would be to add 'Juice Plus' to your regimen as well as Krill Oil, Juice Plus you would get from a distributor (there's also a children's health study you can sign up for when you start and 1 child will get Juice Plus FREE for 3 years) and Krill Oil should be ordered from http://www.mercola.com he has a very good quality. Hope this helps.

My daughter had a lotus birth and I made a placenta powder after the cord detached. I keep it in the fridge as medicine for me and Koko. I used it every day during the postpartum rest.
You can read our placenta story on my website: http://sugarbabe.org/dett_news.php?id_news=33

Placenta fascinated me! My midwife Ibu Robin Lim just published a book Placenta, the Forgotten Chakra, Half Angel Press, 2010. Amazing!
Great :) Thank you, Jenn!
Amazing photos ! My grandaughter Julia was bleeding too much after baby # 1, so had a C section for baby # 2. All is well, but no placenta adventures :( Julia received 3 units of blood. All was not as hoped for, but we are grateful for medical intervention as necessary. The babies are now 8 days old, and Mumma & babies are doing well. Lots of rich breast milk, good sleeping patterns, and quiet time to build the family relationships with Daddy and big sister.
Thanks for the update I'm glad to hear they are all ok, they will be in my prayers
