I had been trying for weeks to convince my husband that birth is a natural bodily function that was interfered with somewhere along the way and no hospital visit is needed in most cases. I knew I wasn't getting through so out of desperation I came up with the bowel movement theory, or at least I thought I made it up until I read this. I guess great minds do think alike!

I think it was Ina May Gaskin that first made that analogy. And it is very true.
