I am beginning week six of my first pregnancy and interesting in having what I call a 'naturally informed' pregnancy. Watching The Business of Being Born almost a year ago (before I was even pregnant!) solidified the path I want to take
My question is about ultrasounds. It seems to me that it has become almost required to have numerous ultrasounds throughout pregnancy. I asked my ob what the minimum recommendation is and she said 6-8 weeks, then down syndrome screening at 12 and a full anatomy screening at 20.
I plan to start seeing the midwife who shares a practice with my ob so perhaps she will have a different opinion, but I thought I would try to also do some research on my own. My older sister who had her babies only 7 and 9 years ago only had one ultrasound at 12 weeks.
