i think that four months is also a good age to start baby sign language! i started with my son at that age. he is now 21 months old..and said his first sentence the other day...."momma - i love u!" it was tooo cute...it made me cry! i'd like to say that by teachin' him how to sign made him want to communicate more with us...he has been signin' momma - i love u since he was 13 months old, but now with is little voice behind it..its sooo much sweeter!

OK...new to sign...My baby is only 4 months now, but we are starting with milk, mom, dad, more, finished, I love you, and hungry. I didn't feel like I really needed a dvd? or a book? We just plan on introducing signs as we go, keeping it simple until she starts to sign as well. Any suggestions?

lol....i know what u mean...he likes to sit on his potty and laugh at me...when i singin' the potty song!...but its cute! I just recently had a miscarriage in march..that baby was suppose to be due around October 14th, but God didn't have the same plans as i did, i guess. We are tryin' again..and hopefully ill find out within a couple of days if things worked..lol (=

Brittany! Congrats. My daughter is 20 months- and I am due in August! She loevs everything about potty time except going. haha

okay i just ordered some sign videos...i hope they work! and iv started to use signs during the day to just make myself use them...he seems to like when i do them so i hope it goes well...

i know what u mean...kaleb doesn't watch TV either, unless its his baby einsten ones!...they have a great learn to sign dvd. Kaleb only gets his binky for nap and night time now...he's been off it durin' the day for about two weeks now...so hopefully ill be able to get him off the naptime binky..and only on the night one for a little while. we just started potty trainin', and he loves it!! he can't stop dancin' when i say big boy pants...he thinks its tooo funny!...hopefully he will be off binky and potty trained by the time we find out if im pregnant or not! (=

There is really no best time to start- I think babbies are pretty much soaking it all in from birth. :) I started with Eliza aorund 9 months because I was home from teaching. She started signing at around 11 months and is now 20 months- recognizes about 250 signs and does a whole bunch as well. You can start slow by teaching signs like milk, more, mommy, daddy, etc. i took a few books out from the library and looked up signs online. My best advide it to fit the signs into your existing routines, meal time, bed time, bath time etc. and to be consistent. Also, Eliza does not watch TV but she does watch Signing Time once in a while. I love the series and she does too!

well gavin does not have a binky....he just took it out around 3 months and no more! so atleast we dont have to worry about that...he is very chatty so i hope he talks early!
