Glad I found this group. I was taught baby sign language when I was little, back then people would come to ur house and teach ur child and u! Now days its all on ur own. By the time I was two I still wasnt talkin', but I could sign to u anythin' u asked me...even if u talked to me. My mom says I just wasn't ready to talk. Now I have a 20 month old, and he's been signin' since he was 5 months old. He knows all the basic words like; more, love, ball, kiss, momma, daddy, milk, cup, hungry, potty, snack, toys, car, his whole alphabet, and lots of other words. He caught on quick and knew most of these by the time he was 7 months. He talks some too....but he signs more than he talks...were trying to get the "binky" away from him now. Im sure that I will continue to teach him more sign language, and hopefully he will be like me..and remember it so he can teach his children. Are there any good sign language books out on the market today that I should be aware of?
