Kate, thank you for the explanation about vaccines. I think it's important to remember that there are risks either way, as you mentioned, and I also feel that everyone should do their research and make the decision they feel is best. My sister in-law and I both researched vaccinations, and we read many of the same articles and information, but we both made different decisions. I chose to continue vaccinating my children with vaccinations that are free of mercury, and she chose to stop vaccinating her children. It's a very personal decision.

Tarrah, the thing with vaccinations is you're taking a risk either way. The information out there is hard to sort through as you won't ever find a truly unbiased source, so you'll have to bust whatever myths you can on either side, then weigh the pros and cons to make the best decision for your baby. One book that I have read a bit on is Dr. Sear's "The Vaccine Book" he goes through each vaccine and breaks down the components, talks on the disease and how risky it AND the vaccine are and then gives his opinion. He also offers an alternative schedule you may want to go by if you choose to do all the shots, that way you can break them up instead of giving four at once, this can help pinpoint reactions and also puts YOU in control of treating your baby. I will never understand why vaccines are given as one size fits all...my 9.6 lbs at birth son would have received the same dose of Hep B at birth as a 5 lb baby...does that make any sense? No. That of course would be if we had given him any vaccines.

I'm so excited, my cloth diapers should arrive tomorrow! I'm hoping I won't have to buy any more disposables :)

we don't spray our diaps ( I think there is a mix for that) we just rinse off the poo and toss them in a lipped bucket and wash them with 1/3 the noraml amount of soap ( everyonce in a while wash in Dawn to get all the oils out and get them extra clean), and a cycle of plain hot water ( double wash) and dry. We use pocteks so they dry faster or we hang them on the line.

I am a HUGE supporter of breastfeeding its made for your child so why on earth would you not! i never really thought about cloth diapers but i wish our town had a delivery system and i think that i would use them if i didnt have to wash them myself...is it really hard? does anyone have ideas on all the shots babies get?
