swim diaper?

I've heard that covers made with PUL work great as swim diapers. I imagine a fitted or AIO with a PUL outer layer would work too. The PUL would help ensure that stool would stay in the diaper.

I've taken my son swimming a few times and I never even thought to consider a cloth swim diaper, even though I use cloth diapers! I bought the little swimmers. Now, after realizing that we don't have to use disposable swimmers, I'm thinking of a really radical idea - not using any diaper at all! Honestly, the swim diaper is just to hold any poop in anyway, and my son is 9 months and only poops once a day in the morning, so I really don't even see the need for a diaper in the pool. I'll just put his swimming trunks on him next time! Actually, I'm really lucky that he's on a good "pooping schedule" - I just sit him on the toilet in the morning to do his business and I end up never seeing a poopy diaper!

thats is so awesome! do you EC throughtout the day ur just the one time in the morning? everyone i know that used the swim disposables hated them we got an imse vimse and it seemed to work, harvey signals when its time to poop so we dont have an issue there but i just wanted something incase, we put a liner in ours to absorb the pee cause i'm weird but it was prolly pointless cause it was soaked with pool water.

EC is elimination communication or called infant potty training meaning you put you as mom are trained to know when baby is gonna go so u put them on the potty instead of them going in their diaper.

Oh! I had no idea it even had a name! Yep, we EC throughout the day. We do it routinely in the morning and after naps and then I also watch throughout the day for signs that he's got to go. It's really great because he pees on the toilet as well (obviously not everytime), which means less diaper changes :) Do you EC as well? I've only heard of one other mom doing it, and that was 25 years ago, so I kind of thought I was just weird!

i do! my mom did it when i was a kid although she didn't know there was a name for it either and then when my friends got pregnant they found a ton of information on it so then they shared it with me and i was shocked to me it jsut seemed like the natural thing to do. there is a yahoo group here in Orange county for moms who do it and there are some great books about ECing including information on how to do it when you have more than one child. i totally agree with the less diaper changes. we have misses but we actually kept record this past week of howmany times he did go and it was awesome he went like 20 times this week and like half of those his diaper was still dry when i put him on the potty. congrats on doing it! i think its awesome!

It does seem natural, doesn't it! I was with another mom a while ago and her daughter went into the corner and squatted down to have a BM, and the mom knew what she was up to and just changed her diaper after - I thought that was so odd! How old is your son? That's so great that you guys have such a good system down. I've heard before that ECing (I love that I now know it's name) is common practice in China where young kids wear split pants. Have you heard of that? Anyways, thanks for the encouragement and for making me feel not quite so strange!

he is 7 months we have been doing it since he was about 3 months. i agree about the squatting thing i have seen oms do that to me it seems like that if you know they are going why don't u just get them use to the toilet. i guess some parents think its easier the other way but i think its easier to introduce him now so by the time he is older he will be use to gong on the toilet. anyway i have heard of split pants try googling the term EC you will find a ton of information there is also a whole EC store.

I've got one of these swim diapers for PrettyPrinted and I love it. No leaks and much better than any other I've seen!

Can you ladies who do EC tell me more about the signs that your babies show when they need to go potty? I try to look for signs in my 5 month old especially when I catch her peeing on the changing table or in the bath. But I can't seem to see any difference in her behavior. I really want to learn how to do EC but not sure how to start or if it's too late. Also what kind of potty can you sit a little baby on or do you just hold them? Please help. Thanks.
