Comment by Rebecca on July 20, 2009 at 10:46am: The thing that scared me most about giving birth was the possibility of surgical interventions. I went to a midwife because they have much lower section rates, but I still didn't feel safe from episiotmy/tearing. (Part of me even felt selfish for not being willing to make this sacrifice.) But I knew that if I didn't feel confident going into labor that things wouldn't go well.
The Epi-no excercises most certainly saved me from tearing. I felt great after giving birth because I had no incisions of any kind! Most importantly, I was not frightened while I was in labor.
