I have a 6 month old who I had every intention of breastfeeding until she weaned herself... I just found out I am pregnant (about 4/5 weeks) and can already feel my milk supply waning. Any tips on keeping it up from those of you experienced with this....? Is it safe to take fenugreek now that I'm pregnant? Or do I just need to keep nursing/pumping until my poor pregnant sore nipple fall off lol

I don't know that I have any tips. I got pregnant with my second child when my oldest was 9 months old. Both my OB and his pedi said that the hormones related to pregnancy would change the taste of my milk eventually and that he would probably self wean because of it. I managed to nurse him until he was 13 months, but by the end I could tell he didn't like what he was getting.

Do make sure you are getting enough fluids and enough calories. Nursing and being pregnant and still sort of recovering from pregnancy can take a lot out of you. I used to pass out all the time and my weight dropped dramatically at the begining of the second pregnancy.

Best of luck and congratulations on your new addition =)
I'm 12 weeks pregnant and my nursing son is 13 months old. I don't have any good suggestions, but just wanted to comment that my son is still nursing just as frequently as before, but only about half the time can I actually tell he's getting any milk. So I think my production has dropped off even though I've been good about keeping up with fluids and good nutrition. Because he's older, I'm not going to worry about taking anything to boost my supply, but because yours is only 6 months, it might be a good thing to look into. Maybe your midwife/doctor could point you in the right direction to a safe solution once you have your first appointment? I've found my midwife to be an excellent resource.
As for the nipple soreness, mine were SUPER sensitive for the first 2-3 weeks, but then settled right down and now they're feeling normal again, so maybe there's some relief in your future? Best of luck with everything and congratulations!
