I am still breast feeding my daughter who is 22 months and no sign of her losing interest at all! She used to sign milk (I teach baby signing and she signs as well as talks), then said 'Mi mi' then I stupidly said 'Do you want some boob now?' one day and she now calls it Boobie... quite hilarious while walking through M&S lingerie department the other day with her shouting 'Boob, Mummy Boobie please!' ... at least she said please I suppose! lol
I have thoroughly brainwashed her about the benefits of bf.. all her toys need breastfeeding on a regular basis, if she hurts herself, she asks for boobie to feel better and the other week, her Daddy had flu and was in bed and she asked
'Daddy poorly?'
'Yes Daddy doesn't feel well, he is in bed'
'Give Daddy boobie, feel better!'.... well yes probably but that's a whole other conversation! Kept me chuckling for ages though.
She also signs while drinking... her favourite is to sign milk, point to my boob, point to her mouth , then her tummy then sign good! So cute, although I do fight the urge to tell her not to talk with her mouth full!

Welll I seem to have brought the level of teh conversation right down to a very silly level so I will end in saying that I love bfing and all those little moments when you and your baby gaze deep into each others souls and you can feel how much you love the beautiful little creature you have created.

Awww Karen that's beautiful! Good for you! How proud you must be! You can tell your son that that picture is of my daughter Shira who is one years old. :) She plays with her ear and rubs my tummy while she nurses..lol

Wow! This is great. I have one nursing 3 year old. It's really only at bed time or if he's not feeling well, and it is wonderful. It is such a special part of our relationship and I am happy that by trusting my own instincts we are confidently breastfeeding for as long as we like. My son just looked at the picture on this page and saidwith a big smile, "That's how I nurse!" Happy nursing everyone!

Hi there! I am breastfeeding my 3rd child, but he is my first nursling really. My first baby I only breastfed a few months and that time was filled with lots of bottles. I didn't breastfeed my second baby at all. Both of those scenarios I greatly regret, but I am now nursing my son who's almost 19 months old and I feel that even though my first 2 children missed out on the health benefits of breastfeeding, they are at least getting a healthy image of breasts and their intended purpose. They speak constantly about nursing their baby dolls or their babies when they are grown up so I am happy for that.

My goal is to nurse my son for a minimum of two years (as recommended by the World Health Organization) but ultimately let him decide when enough is enough. I hope we are able to have a mutually happy and healthy full term nursing relationship.

Hiya, I have stopped breastfeeding now but fed my four for between one year and four and half years. My youngest was the only one I fed beyond talking and he called it 'side' as in 'can I have the other side please mummy' :-))

I have 4 children. The first nursed until 18 months, my second and third nursed until they were about 2 1/2. The fourth is 13 months and I'm not planning on weaning him until he's at least 2 or 2 1/2.

Darcel, all my kids called it ni-nights too! Isn't that just the most precious thing? My 13 mo. old calls them na-nas. I love it!

Hey! Welcome! That is so wonderful! Good for you!
My first two didn't even make it to 6 months. My third and I are still breastfeeding and she is 12 1/2 months old! It's just such a beautiful thing between Mommy and child! I'm so excited to be a part of it! :)
