HI

I am currently nursing my 22 month old and need to go on the pill to treat my PCOS. Can I nurse on the pill? My gyno said it may cause vaginal bleeding in my daughter!

Thanks a lot, I'll check it out :) I was disappointed when I found out that the bank I was going to donate to, pasteurized the milk. So cool!

mmm Jennifer S. I use a website called milkshare.com it's for us crunchy girls so we can donate directly to recipients including cancer patients. I like it because the babies and patients get more of the bennifits of breast milk because it isn't pasturized.

HI there! yes, i too am "one of those" extended bf'ers. i am *gasp* still nursing my son who will be 3 the end of July. (i've thought about weaning him in the past, but the timing was never right.) he recently underwent eye surgery for his strabismus, or cross-eyes, while in the post-op recovery room - he asked or rather "signed" milk (he has a speech delay along with gross motor and cognitive delays). i was glad i could offer that comfort to him as he was under duress from the surgery.

anyway, we as mothers know our children best and if nursing your child/ren is something you can offer them, then go ahead and do so! it is really between you and your child, don't be embarrassed by it. granted, i don't go around telling everyone that i am still nursing him but i am not hiding it either.

so with this post, i encourage moms to nurse as long as you want to (and obviously as long as your child is still willing). you know what is best for your child.

oh Mandy! I know what you mean! I get SOOOO much grief for nursing my 2! Everyone seems to think babies have x-amount of months to BF and then they are done! phsss, that's is a crappy way to think of nursing! You go Momma! I support you!! =)

Hi all!
My 13 month old son is still nursing and shows no signs of stopping any time soon. I've gotten a lot of negativity about him still nursing, and also a lot of negativity about wanting to nurse him as long as HE wants. My husband supports me 100%, which sadly is more than I can say for the majority of my family members.

Hello, I'm currently bfing my 2 yr old son. I would like to continue nursing until he self weans but jus recently started getting the "maybe he should start weaning" talk from dh. He's been very supportive so far, so I think I'll just have to start reminding him of the reasons bfing is so important. Such as when ds gets sick it's not as bad as his non bfing peers.

Karen - I love that story too. Unfortunately people often think that we Europeans are into breastfeeding big time - but just to demonstrate our limitations - the UK are bringing in a law to give women the right to breastfeed in public - the trouble is, it states 'for babies up to six months old' - so that can be interpreted as saying that we cannot breastfeed an older baby in public - outrageous - I hope it dosn't get abused - but it's just terrible that we needed to put it in law at all! How do you all do in 'the land of the free' with public displays of breastfeeding? (I'm a bit out of touch - i was a La Leche League Leader in Uk for 10 years in the 90's) Lynn x
