Thanks lovely ladies! Since I couldn't find a midwife for a home birth in Miami, I am choosing the next best thing: doing my planned water birth in the Miami Maternity Center which is great! Thank god! :)

Hugs Maria, that is such a tough situation!  I am not in FL or even the US for that matter, so I'm afraid I can't help, but I wish you best of luck!

Maha, so excited to see your website!  I have been bellydancing for years and bellydanced through my last pregnancy, but since moving to this town from a large city have not found anyone to connect with and I miss bellydancing so much.  I will have a look into your dvd.  :)

Wow, today was a tough day! Would love to connect with homebirthers or those who support homebirths! My mom and my grandmother are basically extremely opposed to me giving birth at MY HOUSE. I checked out 3 hospitals and I was very dissapointed and my midwife even bailed on me today saying that because it's a "stressful" enviornment for my birth she told me it may be better for me to give birth in Jackson South hospital, even though I've been mentally preparing for this moment already and for her to tell me this was a slap in my face! I am determined to have a homebirth and humanize MY birth, any good recomendations in Miami, Fl (our csection rates are over 60% by the way) mind you I am 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant, I just graduated college yesterday and I have been so stressed my dad passed away 2 years ago yesterday and my boyfriend's 29th birthday was yesterday and he's the only one to support me. Ugh I also need to find a pool liner (affordable) asap! Lol!!!! I need to laugh this away!! :)

Thanks Jen!  I actually found that same article today while I was researching and bookmarked it to email to my husband, when I think the time is right (not today though, lol)

This will likely be our last baby (and part of the reason I really want it to be an enjoyable experience).  I just can't bring myself to close the book on my HBAC yet, I'm only 10wks pregnant!  I hope we are able to talk about it, though it seems impossible right now.  I feel like I can't find the right information to back up my feelings (lots of info on the safety of home birth, lots of info on VBAC, harder to find the right info on HBAC).  Hopefully there is still time to make the right decision.

Will he watch business of being born? You can go two ways. Either put your foot down and say this is what I want and I am the one who is going to be in labor and pushing this baby out so this is what I'm doing and hopefully you can support me. Or negotiate if there is going to be more kids down the road, say I will have this one in the hospital and if all goes well the next we do at home. I hope you can come to an agreement that makes you both happy. The day you welcome your baby into the world should be a magical and loving day , hopefully that is what you get no matter where you are.

Thanks Michelle.  We were at the midwife's this morning and how she worded a lot of things really didn't help.  Like when he asked flat out "what happens if there is a rupture and she bleeds out, she could die right?" and she was like "well yeah, but it's not that common" and all he hears is that there is a chance (no matter how small) and he is just not willing to take it.  In so many ways his attitude is so infuriating to me, but at the same time I have to respect his opinion too (I just wish it were more informed).  Also, our two previous experiences (planned c/s and hospital VBAC) were great, so there is no worry in our minds about the type of care we would recieve, if that makes sense.  It's not like we had traumatic experiences, I just want to be at home because it makes the most sense to me and also I know how fast my last labour went, I could of stayed home and it would have been fine.  He is such a negative "what if" sort of person.  He thinks I am being selfish and putting myself and my baby in danger by wanting to be at home.  I think it is the risk (out of the many other possible risk) that I would take.  I know in my heart it would be fine.
