Hi ladies! I am new to the group! I am a natural birth and parenting blogger and I need some NATURAL mama followers. It seems that everyone who follows is not exactly my target audience.

Rebecca, I didn't have any support from my sister and mother.  Whatever material I gave them to read, they didn't, but I did it anyway! It was the best decision. Here is the story of my home birth if you care to read it. : )

Thank you ladies. I tried to get her to watch The Business of Being Born weeks ago. She started asking me sarcastically. So some crazy lady is gonna blow up a pool in your living room? And Do you even know the statistics of it being safe? I told her actually I did and have been doing nothing but reading and researching for 4 weeks straight. Then asked her if she bothered to watch the movie and ofcourse she said no. Oh well, she is missing out on a beautiful thing to witness so in the end it's her loss and not mine :)

Your sister probably doesn't understand what a homebirth midwife does and the safety precautions that are in place.  Our culture is so ingrained that the only place to have a baby is in the hospital, that most people have knee jerk reactions to hearing about home birth.  She may come around, but if not, only allow people to attend your birth that are 100% on board with what you are doing.

Rebecca, that is such a shame.  There is still plenty of time for her to educate herself.  I hope she gives you the respect to at least check her facts before judging your decision.

Feeling a little bummed out today. I had planned on my sister seeing her first birth with my 3rd baby, due in Feb. She was excited and even wanted to video tape until I told her I found a midwife. And wanted to have my 1st Homebirth/waterbirth. She became negative and called me crazy and told me I was risking my life and the life of the baby. She doesn't have children but was very quick with her opinions about childbirth and how much safer the hospital is, LOL. It ended in me telling her that if she was gonna be negative then I didn't want her there. Anyway just needed to rant to a group of women who didn't think I was crazy.
