Well, I had my first (and only so far) baby in the hospital with a CNM. I loved her dearly, but I really want to have a home birth next time around, so I joined here to follow the homebirthers.

I am mum of 9 ranging from 22 yrs to 6 months: my birthing expereinces are (in order) Em C/S (1986); Em C/S (1988); Hosp VBA2C* (1990); Em C/S (1993); Hosp VBA3C (2000); HWB (2002); HWB (2004); HWB (2007); Hosp waterbirth (2008).

Both my hosp VBA3C and hosp waterbirth were booked HB's but I ended up being transferred into the unit for high BP complications

* After Hosp VBA2C I set-up VBAC Information & Support (20 yrs old next year...) as I discovered that there was no (or very little) information on natural births that was readily available to mums who had a C/S, anyone who would like this info' please just ask - mostly emailable these days...

Since 2000 I have had the same team of great NHS Midwives and because I recieved excellent continuity of care I was able to trust these ladies when things seemed a little' odd' and took their advise to go to the hospital.

If I have a 10th baby (who knows, I might now I have a minisbus to drive about in...) then I will have the same team again and will again opt for a HWB as this has been the only time that I have been in control fo my baby's births - the hosp waterbirth was 'spoilt' by the attending Midwife (not one of my team) who did not respect my right to say NO to certain things...

It is great to finally find a sensible homebirth forum.

Hi there! I'm a mother of 5 - 3 of whom were born at home. My first born was an emergency casarean - an emergency created by hospital staff themselves! My second born was a natural birth again in hospital but with a fab and patient midwife (my first 4 babies took their own sweet time in second stage labour!) My third and fourth were twins and they were born at home with the best midwife I could ever, ever have hoped to meet! My fifth (and final!) was also born at home with the same midwife I had with my twins. I'm glad to be here showing support for all the homebirthers!!!

I have tried and tried and tried for a water birth every time but I never make it to the tub. I'd never labor without one I think they are such a help.

Is anyone else totally amazed and into building their placenta? I blogged my adventure in placenta building and when I birthed it I took pictures to show the results, sadly they were deleted because they were deemed as offensive.

I had a home water birth with my first daughter in July 2007, supported by my fabulous independent midwife (I'm from the UK). It was the best day of my and my husband's life. I also run a homebirth group in my town which gives support to parents who are planning/had a homebirth. I can't wait until I can plan the next one... maybe next year! :-)

I am a mum of 3 beautiful children, my second baby being born at home in a birthing pool. I have absolutely loved all of my deliveries and feel very positive about the whole labour and birth experience. I feel very envious of you moms out there who are about to embark on this wonderful journey! Enjoy!

I was born at home in 1962 - I had my 3rd baby at home over 20 years ago - I 'caught' my grandchildren, Sebastian and Aurora when my daughter birthed at home in 2005/6 - I am interested in all things 'homebirth' as i want my grandaughter to have the opportunity to experience what every generation before her in our family have experienced. Am due this June with my first. Am planning a "homebirth" style delivery with my Midwife at The Farm in Tennessee. I live in Indiana where CPM's are illegal, this made traveling out of the state to birth one of my best options.

I am headed to The Farm to wait for my little one to arrive in 6 short weeks!
