Hi ladies! I am new to the group! I am a natural birth and parenting blogger and I need some NATURAL mama followers. It seems that everyone who follows is not exactly my target audience.

I am also planning to do a series of POSITIVE natural birth stories to show women how awesome childbirth really can be!  If you would like to share your story please let me know!

Thank you so much!

Hello all! I see nobody has posted in a while. Hope we can get this thing going again! My husband and I have been TTC for 2 years, although, I through out my BC almost 7 years ago :( Of course, my OB wants to start Clomid before doing any kind of testing. I even ovulate every month, so Clomid just doesn't make sense. At first, I was all about fertility drugs, even IVF. But I try my best to live a natural lifestyle, and that just doesn't fit. I want to be a momma more than anything, and I'm willing to try anything, but I want it to be done naturally. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Right now I am following the seven standards of ecological breastfeeding, but since my daughter turned 8 weeks a few days ago, I also want to start charting. Does anyone know of any charts I can download that are specific to postpartum amenorrhea? I've got a copy of a regular chart, but it has the "day of cycle" at the top which doesn't apply to me right now.

I encourage women to read Ericka's blog on Ecological breastfeeding as a form of NFP. My daughter is 11 months old and I am still enjoying ammenoreah thanks to following " the seven standards of Ecological breastfeeding." My daughter and I are also enjoying a relationship of mutual trust and closeness as a result.

Thank you Olivia!

Cherylyn, yes, I have made my own menstrual pads in the past. The pattern I used was for a fabric envelope and rectangular flannel insert, but I found just using the flannel inserts as pads was what I preferred (it was less to deal with, and flannel is so comfortable--except when it's hot!) To make the inserts, cut a strip of flannel however wide you would like the pad to be long (for instance, 8"). For thick pads, cut the (8") strip to make long rectangles (maybe 28"). For thin pads, cut the strip to make shorter rectangles (like 14"). Zig-zag around the edges and fold to size. I would rinse these out whenever I changed, and then eventually wash them in the washing machine. I know someone who has used the rectangle cloth diapers for this purpose, too, by folding the thinner sides under the thicker middle and using. Hope this helps!

This is a little off topic, but kind of relevant to the group, I think. Have any of you ever made your own menstrual pads? If you have, do you have a sewing pattern you can share?

Thanks for the great discussion, Marci and K. Oster! Through your respectful debate, I've come to know more about NFP, and how wonderful is that?!
K. Oster Comment by K. Oster on February 1, 2010 at 1:31pm
Indeed, I did misspeak on this point: " Users of the Lady-Comp understand it is within the window of fertility that one should use a method of birth control - not only within the 24 hour window of ovulation." I will clarify the point of the comment which was to say maintaining the ability to identify the the window of fertility complemented with advance insight.

Our position is not to advance one method over another, as this truly is a personal choice based on a woman's needs, comfort level and convictions. We routinely communicate with a wide range of health professionals - doulas', midwives, OBGYN's, endocrinologists, etc. in effort to deepen our understanding of the realm of perspectives, and most importantly, an understanding of their client's needs and experiences.

We hope that your passion for NFP will be contagious within this forum. Clearly you have a wealth of valuable insight to share.
