So glad to hear from you Blaize!!! Yes i know what you meen I was constantly tempted with the thought of applying for the show and proving to the world the teen moms can be different. But I realize that was not the reality I wanted for me or my daughter Lily. My daughter will be a year old on the seventeenth and I am still breastfeeding and she has graduated to sleeping in the crib in the same room next to me, lol. Its so amazing to hear you planned a homebirth and had such a positive birth, my daughter was born 4 weeks early and in a hospital but still all natural healthy and with my midwife in attendance. I havnt posted much on here laytely cause iv been working allot before college for me starts on monday and Lilys all over the place as you can imagine but Im gonna start posting weekly discussions Id like everyone to particpate in and everyone else is welcome to post topics or juss drop in to have a little mommy support chat going my personal email is peaceonearthstartswithbirth@gmail.com so EVERYONE feel welcome to email me on that if I dont respond on here for awhile!!

Hello everyone! My name is Blaize. I am seventeen years old. I recently had my daughter in April. She was a planned home-birth baby. :) I also, breastfeed, baby wear, co-sleep, and attachment parent. I am also anti- Cry it out, and will not vaccinate my daughter. Anyway i live in Georgia and am so glad to have found other natural moms! And i concur, the Mtv shows are absolutely repulsive. It almost motivated me to call the shoe 16 and pregnant to show that not all teenagers are complete and utter imbeciles like the show portrays, however I did not want my daughter to grow up in the "spot" light so i was hesitant to apply for the show.

I am new to this group but love what I've read so far. i am a doula and educator and I work with teens in a shelter doing both. I HATE the MTV shows. They have such an opportunity to influence teens and woman towards the importance of their birth experience and not to mention educate about the benefits  and joy of breast feeding!!!! it makes me crazy every time I see them stick a bottle of formula in the babies mouth. I feel it is very important for the teen Moms to have good support during their births. As we all know it can greatly affect how they bond with the baby. I get so much each time I attend a birth with a teen Mom.

I am hoping to open up a birth center that will also double as a teen mothers support place. Its really one of my goals to help teen moms and give them the support they deserves. I dont think that there is enough of that out there but with more women like us i know in time it should change. Its something that is going to go away and why should we treat teen moms any different then others moms. I think with better support and help more teen moms would breast feed and have better births. I am with you Kassedi I hate the MTV shows, I think they do anything for changing peoples views on teen moms and does not show teen moms any good role models to look up to if they are prago. 
Kassedi i am so glad that you put together this group and like you am glad i found someone that feel just as strongly as i do about this.

Thank you for your contribution! Im so sorry for your teen unnesceserean and when I first go pegnant my biggest fear was having an "emegency ceserean" because thats how my moms birth went for me. I find it sad and destirbing that the shows for teen moms that are on mtv that could be so empowering are showing unempowering hospital births that result in formula feed babies and obvious mental/emotional dfficulties in the teen mothers. The subject of teen birth and mothering is taboo in our society and is just now being accepted. We need to educate teen girls on birth, evidence based care, breastfeeding. Im so glad that Im starting to meet woman who feel just as stongly as I do.

I was just thinking how I was a teen mom and how I had NO support whatsoever and if I had the knowledge I have now back then, I would probably never had an "emergency" c-section.  I tried to help out with a teen pregnancy support center, but their beliefs swayed so far from mine, it was difficult to stick around along.
