Hi Katrina! Great news!
I know there are going to be more of us, utilizing positive priming during birth, using words that help a mother instead of suggest limitations!

I'm in the midst of having this program Certified and CEU & CERP credits applied to it.

I will be offering this to birthing professionals like RN's, Doula's and Midwives, and Katrina, I'm going to need TRAINERS for this program.

These would be Pracs or Master pracs of NLP certified through the Society for NLP and then taking this 6 day training (Birth Professional)
they would only need to do a one day preparation for presentations and they are going to be licensed through my training company to teach this program.

I am so passionate about getting this into the medical model, primarily because the doctors in N. America are now taking NLP Medical Practitioner in the UK, and becoming certified. Once again they are going to have the information the Birth Professionals don't have!

Further I notice as much work as I do with my moms and dads, when it comes to the crunch, the people they are working with are going to undo it if they are determined to!

This is really the single most important add on to a Birthing professional, not only for birthing, but also for dealing with governments, certification boards, their own political structures and hospital boards..

It's got huge potential.

The program is in place and the first one will be in Montreal PQ, Canada early next year.

I'm so happy to have found this group. I became certified in NLP and hypnosis in 2006, and didn't know where it would lead. Then I became a birth professional and realized quickly that these two fit together beautifully. I was trained through Birthing From Within, which utilizes NLP in its practices.

Are you working with moms and birth still or taking a break?

Lots of us need breaks, it's pretty emotional work that's for sure!

Mirror Neurons,

These little transmitters in the brain are known as the pre-cursor to language and have been extensively studied since 2000, with recent writings from scientists on just how they work....

They create little images in the brain....

A pregnant woman, with an infant within....is using these constantly just like we all do every day, however, she's in a unique position ...she has a developing fetus that is learning exponentially, through the use of mirror neurons!

So her thoughts - using words don't translate YET., however, her IMAGES do, and those images she creates that manifest floods of brain chemicals through her body, they are teachers too!

When we want baby to move in a certain direction we can use our IMAGES, just visualize baby in optimum birthing positions and voila!
Baby responds.

Tell a woman often enough "your baby is in the wrong position" and then take the time to help her visualize it, show her the images, show her just where baby's bum is, and voila...baby STAYS in that position!

Yes, it's that simple.

What about breech babies, they just WON't MOVE...of course not, breach babies are believed to be stubbornly sitting upright in mom, and refusing to turn...guess what images mom keeps sending her baby!

Is it this easy?

Well, I believe so, and in over 100 babies, I've only had one in breech and the rest in OPTIMUM birthing position. The one that went breech did so in the last week, and we just didn't have the time to negotiate with mom!

Breech it was.

Lately we've added to moms inner visions of baby, seeing the cord floating free away from baby and guess what...

Can it be this easy to influence an infant?

Ask a mother of the 3 year old about the eyes in the back of her head...or that "intuition" mom says "I just know my child...."

Well, it's mirror neurons on the job!

There's going to be a lot about Mirror neurons in the future....

Just do a google on Mirror Neurons from time to time and see just how much is flowing now....

Here's how it works;

The brain cannot delete something it hasn't created.

So in order to NOT think about something the brain first has to create it.

Hence Suggestions of all sorts get created before anything else happens!

Here's an example....Don't think of a purple giraffe....

Right, first the brain creates it, then does the Don't part....but you have already created it...and sometimes those little appendages can start other things happening...

Sometimes we don't think when we speak...we just speak....and those words can carry visual stimulation, positive affirmations, and negative ones.

Positive Priming is what we want when we are running a marathon, or wanting to achieve an outcome!

Could you imagine someone giving negative priming, (suggestions) to Tiger Woods just before a major tournament? We would think that was totally cruel!

So why do we give our labouring mothers negative suggestions during labour?

Makes you think doesn't it?

I just need 9 days of your time ( I know it's a lot, but so worth it)

I just need 6-7 of you as a minimum sized group and a space to train in.

How do you use language during birthing?
Are you inquisitive, suggestive and alarming?
What tone of voice? What kind of suggestions?
What if you knew your words would have a desired outcome and you could change a woman's birth experience just with ...words?

Language, the word....we all use them, however, when we know the effects of words during critical moments in our lives....we can truly make an impact!

Grantly Dick-Reed reframed LABOUR PAINS to CONTRACTIONS thinking this shift in language would create greater calm in the labouring woman.
Today, the word "contraction" conjures up every kind of tightening, griping, pain one can imagine...during labour!

HypnoBirthing(r) shifted the language of Contraction to "surges".
Ina May Gaskin shifted the Contraction to "Sensations"
Gloria Lemay shifted contractions to "waves"

I've shifted the word to something completely different...to touch every one of the VAK sensory levels a person experiences...just with a
flutter of a woman's hand....

"...as you might pass your hand through water, let this pass through your body in the same way..."

In this simple statement her visual, kenesthetic and auditorial functions have been touched!

It maximizes the suggestion when you can touch the woman on all her sensory perceptions in one simple statement!

As she does this she moves deeper into her body, less in her left brain, "whats going wrong here" and allows the surge, the contraction, the wave, sensation to pass through her body, imagining (seeing) her hand moving through the water, hearing the sounds of the water moving....

These kinds of metaphors assist your mother into deeper states of consciousness where she can hear and respond to you, however, more than anything she can move herself below the sensation of pain, and into connection with her infant and the deeper process of birth.

Can birth be pain free? Yes, but lets look at something completely different shall we?

What if we believed the most important part of intercourse was to be prepared for the PAIN of it? I know- could have done in the population millenniums ago!

But that's not what we prepare for, we prepare for the pleasure of it.

Now there's something interesting every woman knows...if you are not mentally relaxed and prepared and ready for sex, it's not going to be the experience you know you can achieve...however it can be OK, anyway.

Well, I'm thinking that just like intercourse (we're using the same parts)
perhaps we're getting talked out of our birth experiences too?

Maybe when we look at the pain, we get tense and we forget this could be ok...maybe when we look at "all the dead babies and mothers" we get fearful and tense and scared....

and just like sex, the pleasure goes out the window and it can get really painful, and really fearful, and really a huge drama. Just the way sex can be if we aren't in the mood, are tense, are in our left brain about it.

I know there are lots of women that don't have great sexual experiences, and I help women with this problem a lot. Mostly I'm teaching them about their body!

Because once you know...you can't un-know it!
