I was looking forward to being able to encapsulate my placenta but unfortunately I ended up with an emergency C-section and the hospital was willing to give me the placenta but not after pathology examined it and used formaldehyde on it :-(

I got my capsule maker and capsules from one of my local health food stores, and I think Whole Foods may carry the supplies too.

When I went for my postpartum checkup my doctor was asking more details on how to do the capsules and where to get supplies!!!!!

Thanks Jean i been doing a lot of reading online and it say it can help with you milk and i just wonted to ask some women who have done it if it helped. To be honest i am alittle taken back about this, but i think its more a mind over matter deal. How was it for you? What did people say when they found out you did it?
Also did you make your own or did pay for someone to do it??
i was thinking i just wonted to make them myself, from what i am reading online its not hard.

My husband got mine done. He pureed it then dried it in the dehydrator then ground it and encapsulated it for me. It has made a big difference. I was only taking two capsules at first and it didn't seem to have much effect then I upped it to 6 capsules a day and boy do I feel better. I have more energy, I am not crying at everything and feeling like everything is hopeless, my milk has come in much better too. Even my blood has started to rebound much quicker and I am not taking the iron pills (it was 14 before birth 8 after and now it is up to 10). I told my doctor coincidence or not I felt a big improvement in just one day going from 2 to 6 capsules, she has been fascinated by the effects the placenta capsules have had for me. I wish I had done this with all my other birth but I will definitely do it again. While it would have been nice to have someone do it for us, we couldn't afford it but it was really easy to do at home and well worth the effort.

I actually found an ecapsulation specialist through placenta benefits in my area...I have already contacted her now I just need to figure out my finances so I can have her do it for me...I will not have the patience nor the desire to do it myself....but maybe if I can't afford it I will have to do it myself!!
