I am going do one today for a friend who just had her baby early this morning. I have a pretty good recipe..anyone tried steaming it for 20 mins on each side with a wedge of lemon placed on the placenta while steaming? just wondered. It helps to shrink it into a nice-sized patty. :) Also helps separate the membranes, which always makes it easier.

My husband is going to do mine for me. I will try to post up the sites that I found with the instruction soon. I have seen everything from blending it up then drying it to lightly cooking and oven drying.

Mandy, I found some easy "recipes" for preparing the placenta for encapsulation myself in an affordable way (about $20 for an used food dehydrator and $5 for the capsules or just $5 for the capsules if I used my oven for drying).
I was planning to do it myself until my midwife offered to do it for free as a gift as long as I stuffed the capsules myself.
So ask around and see if someone in your community can do it for barter or trade or you can try the DIY approach.
