Sacred Birth

Dear Mamas and Lovers of Birth, I originally started this group because I really wanted to hear your stories, and i still do. How was your birth sacred? What did you do to create empowerment and peace in your pregnancy and birth?

We are at a crossroads on the planet and in the world of birth here in America and now I see around the world. I have just returned from speaking at the World Birth Summit in Damanhur, Italy. MIdwives, doulas, educators and researchers from nations all over the world gathered to speak about the sanctity of birth. I was priveleged to share the stage with Debra Pascali-Bonaro of the film and book, Orgasmic Birth, as well as with Robin Lim of the Bumi-Sehat Foundation in Ubud, Bali and many others.

As a licensed spiritual counselor at the Agape International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles, I transformed my life from one of a victim mentality to one of empowerment, using the many spiritual and practical tools that I teach about today. When I became pregnant with my first child, Jasper, I just didn't find what i inherently knew was possible when I was reading about birth, so I started the Sacred Birth Workshop to bring women (and ultimately men) together to reclaim our sacred nature in life and in birth. I knew that God made me to give birth and do it well, and I was determined to work with others to know this as well. I gave birth to Jasper at home and after his birth, I honestly felt like i could have died in peace, it was such a satisfying and affirming experience. With my second birth, it was even more satisfying as I somewhat trepidatiously decided to give birth in the hospital for insurance purposes. I was determined to make it sacred regardless of the location, and to my delight, the birthof Zephyr was one of the most electrifying experiences I've ever had; I was literally skipping down the hallway to the postpartum room.

As a result of my path, I have published the Sacred Birth Workbook (born from my workshops) on my website for download, so moms and dads around the the world can do this for themselves. I am also writing what i call 'the big book' that will enhance the philosophies and practices of the Sacred Birth Workbook and list numerous Sacred Birth Stories. If you have a story to tell and feel that it resonates with my book, I want it!

And for you birth workers out there, I have just launched the Sacred Birth Mentor Program this past May to teach what I know to educators, doulas, nurses, midwives and doctors. Together, we are transforming how we bring life onto this planet in America and around the world.
