This is for the wives of all those serving in our military. I know it's hard to find other like-minded moms and it feels like we're in the minority (with midwives, home births, etc.) so here is a safe place to come discuss our lives.

Sarah, you might want to look into seeing if there are any doulas in the certification process in your area. They may offer a discount, but since they are not certified they won't be listed on DONA's website. Try contacting a DONA trainer and ask them if they have a list of trained doulas who are certifying who might be willing to offer their services for a discount or for free. My own doula was in the certification process when she assisted in two of my children's births, and she was amazing.

I was j/k anyway. All the doulas Ive found in the area charge about $500. Theres no way I can afford that. Im just going to do it in hospital as naturally as I possibly can. I managed to have my first in the hospital with no pain meds so hopefully I can do it again!

I haven't either but you may be able to get a free or discounted service from a doula trying to get her cirt. Try your local Doula association!

I've never heard of them covering a doula.

Has anyone had luck with getting tricare to cover doulas? Ive been told no way no how but Ive heard rumors on other boards that women have gotten tricare to cover doulas for their births.
