Emily,
We can't wait to hear your birth story! Hoping you'll have a gentle and wonderful natural home birth. I just had my baby at home 2 wks ago, and it was the best decision I have ever made.

Thanks everyone! I still can't believe that I had my baby at home. It feels like a dream to me. My husband is soo proud of me, he says he is also shocked that I did it. A drug-free birth is possible! After three birth experiences with epidural…

I still can't believe I had my baby right here on my bed! its still unbelievable that I did a HOME BIRTH!

First, I am doing for my kids, especially for my 2 year old. We're very attached to each other. I cannot see myself at the hospital and my baby girl crying out for me because she misses me. Plus, I do not want my kids around the hospital at…
I just wanted to say congratulations. I was raised in LV, NV, and even though I'm not planning on kids anytime soon, I do one day want a home birth. It's great to hear that there are people in Vegas who are like you. :]

Doris,
The first time I really "heard" about home birth as a viable option, I was listening to a guest speaker, Suzanne Arms. She was the one who really got me thinking about how we bring out children into the world and the many different effects our actions can have on mental and spiritual development. You can read more about her by visiting birthingthefuture.com.
You mentioned family and friends not understanding...this is common (home birth moms are, after all, only less than 1% of the population in the u.s.). One thing I learned from Suzanne during her speech was to protect myself - shield myself, from any outside negativity in the form of opinions/remarks, scary birth stories and even gruesome movies and violence. Pregnant women are very sensitive and should be handled with care. If you find yourself in the midst of negativity, politely ask whomever is the cause not to share those things with you and either come up with an educated response or leave it at that and change the subject.
Hope this helps,
Kaitlin
Sure is. First home-birth. First pregnancy. I'm so excited! Congratulations to you!

Hi Doris - just saw your status after sending you a message with a friend request. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about home birth. I had an awesome home birth experience last February and have become quite the home birth advocate. It was all I could think about before my daughter was born and I'd do it all over again. Hope to talk with you soon!

Oh wow #4!! congradulations ;D
yeah with my first pregnancy they gave me some time but said that I wasnt dialating..(my mom insists that they we're probably lying) so they gave me pitocin, that led to epidural, then It went to emegency C section, for a distressed baby! all the drugs in my system made me feel sick..it took me like A MONTH to stop feeling so dazed..I dont remember much from the hospital!! I was in and out cause of the anesthesia, I hated the way it made me feel and the experience Which i dont remember was kinda stolen Which is why I started to look up natural birth, I cant do a home birth, my insurance wont cover that, but I feel pretty safe with the health care provider that i have she's very supportive and excited that I want a natural birth, and we've been working on a natural birth plan i'll also have a doula at the hospital with me so right now i feel pretty good about everything, i just hope nothing goes wrong and that I wont be sooo scared IM SCARED lol..but I def think it will be worth it

thanks ;D
I assume from your pic that this is your second??!! (if thats your daughter lol)
This baby will be my second too
how was your first birth like?
Doris, I know it may be hard, but for me personally, paying for my MW and being able to have my Home Birth was worth anything I had to pay! find out if your MW will do a payment plan, give up hose little extra's, impulse buys at the checkout counter at the store. Eating out can really add up, and if you can just make a few sacrafices here and there, it will totally be worth it in the end! Good luck to you!
