15weeks pregnant - Having first Home Birth

I will never get why women stalk NCB and Home Birth boards just to pick fights or confront women about their choices. I certainly didn't know there were trolls like that on this site. That really suc…

I'm with you. My 4th was my home birth. The speeds, respectively, were 8 hrs, 6 hrs, and 2 hours. One of the things that influenced my decision to plan a home birth was the prospective speed of the delivery. I knew I did not want induction or an obs…

Perhaps you can preoccupy yourself with things to do at home if that will help? I tried to have something ready to eat for my midwife and her assistant, doula, kids, husband... ME! I also had music sorted out and books to read and getting the camera…

I can totally understand. My first was a little over 8 hrs, my second one was only 4 hrs. So I am worried that the midwife will not make it in time for this one.

I don't think you're crazy. I know exactly what you mean. This was the case with my third birth just three weeks ago. I wasn't even thinking about a fast birth b/c my first was extra long and my second was just perfect--a day or so of easy prodroma…

I feel the same as you do, but I have long labors. My first was 27 hours, in the hospital. When I was pregnant with my second I was hoping for a tad shorter, maybe like 12 hours, but still wanted a good amount of time to enjoy, especially since he w…

You are normal in what you are thinking but even if it was 4 hours its fine! That is GREAT and plenty to "experience" You will do great and LOVE not dealing with when to leave, telling staff what you do and don't want..its just all going to BE and h…

I am pregnant with my 4th child and my 3 previous births were all pretty short. My first birth was just over 8hrs..my second, which was actually pitocin induced was about 5hrs from start of pitocin to birth and my 3rd was a little over 7hrs.  I know…

Wonderful Patrice! I also don't get why there is even a debate on NCB. It's a choice, and a very valid one. Just had my second child at home 3 months ago. No regrets, and can't wait to have future children at home.

I was on the pregnancyweekly board. Anytime I even mentioned my Midwife, or my thoughts about having an out of hospital delivery I got no support and a hefty dose of criticism. Other women were actually warning me and trying to talk me out of it. Ev…

Hey Patrice, are you on Facebook? I created a page there called Bring Birth Home. There are 3,500 women to talk to about home birth that would definitely support your decision! I'm very happy for you that you are at peace with this decision. Much l…

Battles Of The Birth

From my blog -

I woke up on the morning of September 28, 1996 feeling as I had for the
last several weeks, like I'd be pregnant forever and starving. Whenever
I look back on that day a surreal and eerie feeling comes over me,
knowing how oblivious I was to the events that were about to unfold.
Not only was I going into labor that day, but I was going into a battle
that had bittersweet consequences. A battle that I lost, but set me up
to fight a war I intend on winning.

INFORMED CONSENT: The Myths Vs. Reality

From my blog @ www.mamachildbirtheducator.blogspot.com

When discussing maternity health care practices there is one phrase
that will inevitably be mentioned and that is informed consent. The belief is that women should have informed consent before any procedure, intervention, or alternative action is taken by the provider before, during, or after labor and birth. This su… Continue

If you are happy with your choices, why does mine bother you so much?

This is taken from my blogspot - http://mamachildbirtheducator.blogspot.com/2010/02/if-you-are-happy-with-your-choices-why.html Please either comment here, or at my blogspot (or copy and paste you comments to both, thank you)

I'm not usually one to go on a rant. Not that people who rant are doing
this, but when I do I always feel like I am jumping to conclusions.
Perhaps I over analyze things for fear of making assump… Continue
