I live in South Africa and we have only just become involved in our doula work. I find many doctors and gynae's dont know enough about doulas.

I have been working in one of our State hospitals for a couple of months now. It is a priveledge to work with our African mums who do not have their partners with them during the labour process. The hospital is designed with women birthing together in one room so that space is at an optimum. I work with freely amongst the women and feel the importance of being a doula and caring for each and every one of them. I get enormous satisfaction when I have worked a day in the hospital. It is exciting that this year is bringing me second time doula mums. I have two new doula babies to be born this year and I am still involved with the first two babes.
I have 5 doula babies booked so far and it is definitely getting busier and bettter known in South Africa.
