After I had a wonderful home birth experience I was talking with my mom about it. TUNING INTO YOUR NEEDS –
Whether you are a full time parent or the head of a company the stress of either can zap your energy. It’s hard to give, be patient and present when your batteries are totally depleted. When you are on an airplane the first thing they tell you is, “ incase of an emergency to make sure to put your mask on first before assisting your children”. This is a great metaphor for parenting yourself because how can you possibly be there and give to another when you are completely…

Forty years ago, women shut-up and listened to their doctors.
And almost forty years before that, the percentage of home births in the United States was almost 40%. My grandmother and her three sisters were all born at home. It was the norm.

www.mamachildbirtheducator.blogspot.comWhen discussing maternity health care practices there is one phrase
that will inevitably be mentioned and that is informed consent. The belief is that women should have informed consent before any procedure, intervention, or alternative action is taken by the provider before, during, or after labor and birth. This su…

My daughter Kayleigh came home a couple of days ago from her gym intensive class with some interesting information. She had been distance walking with a girl in her class who is a nursing student. Finally, after a 15 year decline, the rate of home birth in the United States has increased.
"In 2004, out-of-hospital births represented 0.87% of total U.S. births, rising to 0.9% in 2005 and staying at that level in 2006. That year, 38,568 births occurred out of a hospital, including 24,970 at home and 10,781 in a free-standing birth center."
